Drilling and CNC tools

When machining hard and abrasive materials, it is recommended to use durable tools and machine at relatively low cutting speeds.

For machining softer materials, high cutting speeds and sharper tools are preferable.

Choice of cutting data – milling tools:

Material Recommended cutting speed (m/sec.)
HW tools DP tools
Softwood 60-90  -
Hardwood 50-80  65-90
Chipboard 60-80  70-90
Blockboard 60-80  -
Hard fibreboard 40-60  40-60
Plastic-laminated board 40-60  55-80
MDF 50-70  60-80
Aluminium 30-50  30-50
Thermoplastic 30-60  30-60
Duroplastic 15-50  30-50

For machining pinewood, 70-80 m/sec. is recommended, possibly slightly less for HSS tools, since they are sharper.

With correct cutting data and optimum tool choice, you achieve:

  • Higher productivity
  • Reduced price per drilling operation
  • Less scrapping
  • Less time required for post-processing
  • Higher profits
